About the Founder/Patron

The Foundation was founded by Lindiwe Nonceba Sisulu in memory of her parents, Walter and Albertina Sisulu, who dedicated their lives to the fight against Apartheid in South Africa. Their selfless sacrifices and contributions helped shape the country’s post-Apartheid future, inspiring generations to strive for a society built on the principles of economic and social justice, and equality before the law.

Ms Sisulu, the Foundation’s Patron, retired from active government service, and as a member of Parliament of South Africa, in early 2023 after nearly 30 years of uninterrupted service. During that period, she served in successive governments since the first administration of the late President Nelson Mandela in 1994 as minister of, among others, intelligence, defense, human settlements, tourism, and international relations and cooperation.
